For the past few months, I have been on a morning-smoothie kick.
Recently, my work schedule changed and I am forced having to be at work by 7:30am, a half hour earlier than I am used to. Now, thirty minutes may not seem like a big deal to you, but for this little lady, it has been torture. Waking up earlier to make a smoothie has not been my favorite thing, hence why I haven't made any for the last week, or really for the last month.
(Sleep or smoothie, sleep or smoothie... these are lifes tough decisions.)
So I ask myself, how can I make my life a little easier?
And the solution?
DIY Smoothie Freezer Packets
What You'll Need:
Mini Cupcake Pan OR Ice Cube Trays
Ziploc Freezer Bags
Yogurt (I used Yoplait Low Fat Vanilla)
Fruit (I used 3 bananas, 2 kiwis, strawberries, and blueberries)
Baking Sheet
Directions:
Fill each mini cupcake tin with yogurt. Be generous!
Slice up your fresh fruit (kiwis, bananas) and place on your baking sheet.
Place both the yogurt and fruit slices in freezer and wait until fully frozen.
(Approximately 40 minutes - 1 hour for the fruit, and 1 - 2 hours for the yogurt.)
Put 3 cubes of the now-frozen yogurt into a Ziploc freezer bag, along with about 1 cups worth of frozen fruit.
(Don't forget your already-frozen fruits! Blueberries, strawberries, etc.)
*Tip: To remove the frozen yogurt from the tin, take a spoon and dip it in hot water - This will help loosen it up.*

{This made a total of 8 smoothies}
So now, when you're running a bit behind for work, grab one of these pre-made smoothie packets, add milk or juice, throw it in your Magic Bullet or blender, and ta-da!
Add Wheat Germ, malt, protein powder, or oatmeal for an even healthier drink.
Preparing these for the week ahead just might turn into a little Sunday evening ritual!
What do you do to make your life a little easier?
Happy Monday!
